It was been the best place to go for videos which range  from amazing to funny with everything else in between. In the last week there has been a  hilarious video of a referee whose instinct seems to take over as he robs the ball before realising that well, he is the ref

There’s also all the usual brilliant skills on show in the southern club super  championship. Flicks, kicks ridiculous offloads there are great examples of all of it on rugbydump.com

There is also a really good forum where you can chat to rugby lovers all over the world

It really is a must for any rugby fans

The guys behind the site have been doing a top job for years and long may it continue

So,I tried Yoga this week….Part One

image_21

The whole thing was my fault. It was my idea, I thought it would be fun. I thought it would be easy. I was wrong. Come to think of  it, it  probably was  fun for the people watching me trying to master the absolute beginner basics of the ancient form of Indian bending that is YOGA

One day last week when i was lying on the couch eating a full tube of Stackers.(Aldi’s name for their  name for off-brand Pringles) When my t-shirt rode up my torso and got caught in the ridge, which had formed between my rib cage and my not immodest gut  and I thought to myself I better do something about this.

So I got up and went fro a walk…to Lidl and got their off brand Coco-Pops called Choco-Rice. I walked home and devoured three massive bowls of cereal and tried to figure out the best course of action to eradicate , what my mother refers to as, my soft vein or  a euphemism for a belly

After I had eaten half a Kilogram of  rice with “chocolate flavoured covering” I began to attempt to make a decision regarding my future lifestyle choices, I felt full of stomach but light of mind so I reposed myself  with the intention of napping but the weight on both my mind and my middle was growing at rate that correlated directly  with the digestive process involved in consuming chocolate flavoured rice and a gallon of milk.

When i alighted from my slumber i realised that eating cheap cereal and laying on a couch wasn’t going to make me feel any better and it was time to do something about it. I had just wasted 2 hours (and paragraphs) thinking about and consuming that awful stuff. So I googled yoga in my locale and lo and behold there was a yogic centre  250 yards from the front door of my house. So i signed up for a beginners class and turned up in plenty of time on a Thursday night

To be continued

6 nations, Rugby

Eddie Jones was the best thing in 2016 6N

Eddie Jones

Eddie Jones is brilliant coach and an  interesting fellow. He was the best thing about last years 6 nations and that’s a terrible indictment on the premier northern hemisphere rugby competition. The best thing about 8 weeks of action was a few ironic barbs delivered in a media room by a cocky little Aussie bloke. Ireland scored a nice try against Italy. Vunipola and Hogg did some nice things but an antipodean Quipster was the highlight and that should be shocking but everyone seems to have that convenient form of  amnesia. Where you cant remember the stuff you don’t want to

What happened to all the World cup post-mortems? Well we ignored them and went back to playing  zombie bash. Just a lot of dead eyed lads falling into each other grunting and pointing at their opposite man because a defensive guru from League told them they should

I don’t want to diminish what Jones has done. He has turned England in to a legitimate force again by making them accurate, dominate, and cohesive. He made them English again. A snarling bunch of massive anglo saxons that don’t back down from anyone. He made difficult selection calls that mostly worked and his  choice of captain told you all you needed to know about  how this England team was going to be different from the last one. Despite the personale  changing as drastically as some people would have like

Now if there was one man that deserves to be a bit full of himself it was Eddie. One of the most brilliant debut seasons by a coach in the tournaments history and it also represented the tipping point  when the talking  was more entertaining the the playing.  It’s going to be interesting to see if he can conjure  a performance out of his side in Australia. Both he and Micheal Chieka must be racking their brains trying to think up of burns for each other already.

Joe Scmidht started to look like he was running out of ideas and few irish coaches  ever come fully back from that. If a  difficult tour to South Africa is followed by a difficult November series then Scmidht is going to be in a difficult position. The Irish public  don’t understand rugby and thats been terrible for a lot for irish coaches.

Gatland after all this time with the brilliant  players he has had at his disposal  he could be accused of underachieving though he very rarely is. I cant believe the welsh seem to be happy with. Especially with his meagre record against the southern hemisphere

I don’t want to talk about whats going on in France because it upsets me. Guy Noves got the job 10 years too late.his  beautiful Toulouse sides are now but a haunting memory

So,Eddie is the best but the rest of us really need to get better.

Its that time of the year again…basketball christmas.its the NBA playoffs!!!! .. we changed our brand last year and are now The Trans-Atlantic Division

Jim Elliot and myself  had great fun making the first one of the year on a sunny Rathmines afternoon surround by our wall of sound pillows which are really just pillows. The added production values you hear are a $4 dollar sound fx box. we may have hit the fart button one too many times but in between the uncontrollable digital flatulence we discussed Kobes retirement and his  ex girlfriends Moeshas dreadlocks and  the entire first round of match ups and how lopsided it all seems there was  a lot of love for Kevin Love and his performance against the Pistons

Reaction to all the squad news today from the 42.ie… The brilliant Matt Healy gets selected for the first time after his amazing performances for Connaught this year. in fact the performances have been so good that many how the 27 year old has taken this long to be in contention for an international place.

Peter O Mahoney is finally  back after a very lenghty lay off and i think we will only know how much we missed him when we see him back in the green shirt.. a leader when those sorts of players are thin on the ground.. can not wait to see him on the highveldt.

Podcast:Interview with Ultan Dillane

ultan

It was great to hear Dillane talk about his rise to the top of the rugby world. The first irish international form Tralee since Dick Spring almost 40 years ago. Such an interesting story from being born in Paris and then moving to Tralee at seven without a word of english

The story of his mother bribing him and his brother with a 5er to play rugby when he was 12. As he says himself “the best 5 euro she ever spent”

It was also great to hear another kerry man struggling to wrap his legs around the game of football, you wouldn’t believe  the amount of times i was told i was a waste of a good midfielder.

Ultan Dillane chats to Joe Molloy on Off The Ball. For an absolute beast,he sure sounds like a pure sound lad!!listen below(link opens new window)
